Camp Turtle Island is a sanctuary for restoring cultural knowledge of the Anishinaabe people. We are dedicated to values of self-sustainable community living, teaching, sharing ancestral knowledge, caring for each other and our animal kin, and giving back to Mother Earth as she has given to us.

With a vision of unity, we are a space where community members and Earth protectors from near and far can work on projects aimed at reestablishing self-sustainable living. We practice traditional hunting and gathering rights and facilitate the continued restoration of values that will lead people to a place of healing. With a focus on community living as exemplified in the Anishinaabe culture, Camp Turtle Island members dedicate themselves to taking care of our elders, each other, animals, and the Earth.

All are welcome here. We strive in any way we can to foster a decolonized way of life; to quit throwing people way, and instead reinvigorate them with the traditional way of life we strive for here. We intend to stimulate growth of pockets of entrepreneurship within the culture. Most importantly, we teach people how to survive in the ever-growing society around us through learning nearly lost traditional skill sets of hunting and gathering.
